The Indieweb Kochi meet up was the trigger for this. \[people/Hrishikesh Bhaskaran\] a.k.a \[people/Stultus\] showed me his gigital garden at [Stultus.in](http://stultus.in/?ref=christingeorge.com) and I decided why not take that and then apply it across the site. Not just notes, build a connecting web of everything. Again \[people/Hiran Venugopalan\] warned me against this being noise, but I don’t listen much when i am in the groove. Grove? Since Garden and all? The garden is the part of the site for notes that grow over time, at /garden/.

How a note gets there:

1. I write it in Obsidian.
2. Syncthing copies the vault to the NAS (from the laptop and the phone).
3. garden-sync checks the vault every minute and publishes marked notes into Ghost as posts tagged #garden.

Only notes with `publish: true` ever leave the vault. Unpublishing turns a note into a draft, never a deletion, so mistakes are recoverable.

My posts are part of the garden too. garden-sync only reads them; it never changes a post. Each shows as a paper card with a TL;DR: my custom excerpt if I wrote one, otherwise the post’s strongest line.

Garden notes stay out of the homepage feed. The garden is a place to wander, not a stream.

Why it’s built this way: [Why the garden lives inside Ghost](https://christingeorge.com/why-the-garden-lives-inside-ghost/). How notes connect: [Vines, links and relations](https://christingeorge.com/vines-links-and-relations/). Part of Dungeon.
